Thanks alot, Martin. Any thoughts on a system that lost its rpm program/engine? How do I reinstall the rpm engine if I don't have the rpm engine?

I have a laptop system running RH7.1 with KDE 2.1.2 and KMail 1.2. I would like to have my current email from this particular system transfered over to another system which I'm going to install Suse 7.3 (KDE 2.2.1 ...). Please be informed that I also have many "filter rules" set so I would need that as well. a) Is it possible for me to just install over my RH system? b) Is it possible for me to transfer pertinent (???) files/directories over to a new installation?
Just backup your ~/Mail folder before installing SuSE and then copy the contents across afterwards. Also, copy ~/.kde2/share/config/kmailrc if you want to keep all your settings (mailing lists, filters, accounts etc.).
Disclaimer: I've not done this with SuSE 7.3 (will in next day or so) but can't image any problems between KMail 1.2 and what ships with 7.3.
Mmm. What happens when you type rpm at the console?

Nothing happens. I return to a new console line. Anthony
