Hi Nick,
The /boot/vmlinuz kernel is I believe a standard vanilla kernel, generated from pure 2.3.?? sources from kernel.org. SuSE have created some extensions/enhancements to the base kernel. The /boot/vmlinuz.suse is a kernel generated from these patched sources.
I don't think so. I belive vmlinuz/vmlinuz.suse are one and the same after an initial installation. And please don't confuse people ! It is 2.4, the odd-numbered kernels (2.3 for example) are not for public consumption, they are test kernels. -- Regards Cliff
