If you need a browser-only -- then Galeon should do. it has fast GTK UI and Mozilla's GECKO fast HTML rendering engine. quintaq@yahoo.co.uk wrote:
Hi,
Having despaired long ago of my Netscape (which was my browser of choice under Windows), I have been using Opera for about a year now. Yesterday, out of curiosity I compiled Moz 0.95. I used the default configuration, except for disabling the mail and news components.
I like the result very much, but it does seem to be about the slowest browser I have ever used - both in terms of delay in menus popping up and in rendering pages.
Does anyone know whether there is anything I can do by way of configuration (eg leaving out debugging stuff), that will lead to an increase in speed.
I am using a PIII 800 with 384Megs of ram under X 4.1 and Afterstep.
Regards,
Geoff
