Changes in /etc/pcmcia:
Modified the network.opts file to reflect the
IP/Netmask/Network/Broadcast/GW/DNS, etc.
Modified wireless.opts to set the ESSID, KEY, MODE (set to "Managed") and
RATE (set to "auto").
I don't think any other changes were made.

Which modules are you using ? lsmod ?
Can you tell me if you have altered anything in your /etc/rc.config.d/pcmcia file ?

I am using the wavelan card since SuSE 7.0 without any problems at all.

Im getting really annoyed that it works fine in windows and not linux grr
