Ben, it looks like the PCMCIA bridge chipset that is loaded is for the i82365 Intel chipset. There are other chipsets, and I think that there is a note in the SuSE support databases about how to set them up. Sorry to be so vague. Another place to look is the linuxlaptops.org (?) site that lists the steps required to get linux to run on different flavors of laptops. Maybe that has some information... -ronc On Saturday 20 October 2001 01:55 am, Ben Rosenberg wrote:
Ok..I'm doing something wrong. I updated to 2.4.12 on my workstation in the office and ALL went well even the nVidia driver upgrade (surprize)..but when I try to update my IBM 390X laptop it fails horribly like the 2.4.10 kernel did. It fails to be able to start the pcmcia cardmanager and the modules for the card. I tried updating to the newest pcmcia package and that didn't do anything. Same results.
Could someone run me though this step by step like I'm a child? Because something isn't right. I have the boot message that I got once I updated everything and rebooted. Yes, I ran mk_initrd and lilo again so it would update everything. I'm at a loss.
Msg is as follows:

Thanks for any suggestions anyone might have. This is the first laptop I've owned since I bought my own Stinkpad which was a DX2-66 and it ran Win3.11 :/
Cheers,
