I would like to get /home and / on a CD if I can. I'm not worried about /boot because I can fix that if something happens.
I've been backing up lately. While I think of wiping the drive and installing fresh. IMHO you don't really need all of /. /var/ will be mostly things like log files. /usr will be stuff you'll be upgrading or replacing. You want
/etc [to get all the setup files] /root [If you have anything there] /home [to get all your personal stuff. I'd get rid of things like netscape cache files] If you have non-SuSE stuff installed then you will need to figure out the spot it lives in. I stick most of mine in /usr/local.
Now this is something I really like -no, LOVE!- on Suse and Linux in general. You can easily tgz those directories using tar -xzcf. would that help you? Olli, open for more questions.
