I have just updated my 2.4.0-4GB kernel (SuSE 7.1) to 2.4.7-4GB (SuSE rpm), and now I get the message: "Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:03"
I am running ReiserFS on my root partition, but I could not find anything about it in the configuration of the kernel (menuconfig).
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this??

You should read the README in the ftp site where you downloaded the kernel rpm -- reiserfs is a module, so you need to run mk_initrd with reiserfs as a module. Solution: Boot from your cd, get the README file and follow the instructions there in which reads: If your root filesystem is on a reiserfs partition, add "reiserfs" to the list of modules in the variable INITRD_MODULES in /etc/rc.config, run "mk_initrd && lilo", so that your system is able to boot.
