Just install mod_php4 after removing mod_php. It's a good idea to get the latest available version from SuSE (http://www.suse.de/en/support/download/updates/71_i386.html). It should work "out of the box". Just remember that the file extention is .php (unless you specify otherwise in httpd.conf).
