There is no need to do this. Go get the Xfree86 4.1.0 RPMS and the tgz from the LIVID project. Install the RPMS and then unzip the tgz and cp the files over the Xfree86 ones. It should work now. If not join their email list and they will help you. Mail server fun at work today... No, really... --- Hi, I tried installing the XFree86 4.1.0 package for SuSE 7.1 on my new Vaio GR laptop, and it installed okay, but didn't detect my ATI Radeon Mobility... sax2 can do normal VGA okay, but anything else isn't happening... I looked at the changelog on xfree86.org and noticed support for this has been patched in to the version in CVS. Now, I'm not that up on building sources for linux (pretty new to all this) so I decided rather than go for the (potentially unstable) version in CVS I'd just build vanilla 4.1.0 first... So I downloaded the three source .tgz files from 4.1.0, unpacked to my home directory, and built by doing the following: cd xc su make World >& world.log that's it... I didn't change any config files. (I looked at site.def and it looked okay) - But the build failed. (Last few lines of world.log below...) Has anyone done this before? What steps do I need to take to make it build properly, so I can then add in my patched files and hopefully get support for my hardware. Any pointers appreciated. Thanks, Simon Last lines of world.log: main.c: In function 'ScanArgs': main.c:132: warning: value computed is not used bison -y -d pswparser.y /bin/sh: bison: command not found make[4]: *** [pswparser.c] Error 127 make[4]: Leaving directory '/home/simon/xc/config/pswrap' make[3]: *** [../../config/pswrap/pswrap] Error 2 make[3]: Leaving directory '/home/simon/xc/lib/dps' make[2]: *** [includes] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory '/home/simon/xc/lib' make[1]: *** [includes] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/simon/xc' make: *** [World] Error 2 --------------------------------------------- Simon Detheridge R&D Programmer Widgit Software Ltd. http://www.widgit.com/ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq and the archives at http://lists.suse.com
