Re: [SLE] wvdial:exit code 16, still unsolved I came a little bit late to this thread, so forgive me if I repeat something silly that's already been said. You might want to consider using either kppp rather than wvdial. I had the exact same problem you were having when I first started using wvdial - it has something to do with the pap/chat authentication used by some ISPs. Later on, my ISP fixed the problem and now I can use wvdial reliably. However, kppp has an advantage in that it will allow you to manually specify DNS (wvdial does not - and I blieve that's your problem). There is a dialog box somewhere in kppp that lets you choose "automatic DNS" or "manual DNS" - you should choose "manual DNS" and specify your ISP's primary DNS and secondary DNS. If you have Windows installed too, you should find a similar dialog box in the Windows dialer - use the same settings. If it works in Windows, it should work in kppp. I hasten to add that I use wvdial now and I like it, so I'm not calling it inferior software. It's just with some ISPs, you can't get it to work, and short of switching ISPs your best bet is probably kppp. - Robert Storey __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
