Hi all. Since installing SuSE 7.2 I've not been able to connect to my internet account. At this time I'm stuck with dial up so this is important. It was fine when I was running SuSE 7.0. Here is the wvdial info:
It always fails at the password prompt, even though I know the info is correct.
Here is the tail of /var/log/messages tail /var/log/messages Sep 21 18:42:04 kreator pppd[7442]: Using interface ppp0 Sep 21 18:42:04 kreator pppd[7442]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS1 Sep 21 18:42:04 kreator pppd[7442]: sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1
<pcomp> <accomp>] Sep 21 18:42:26 kreator last message repeated 11 times
This is probably the problem. I believe that it is expecting some kind of response to the LCP sends, and because it is not getting them it is probably assuming the connection is not functioning. Mmm...maybe someone else has some more input on this, or if you are lucky try to find someone at your ISP who knows what an LCP echo request is (I doubt you will to be honest). I don't use ppp over a modem anymore, so I am not much help here I am afraid. Maybe it is a problem with compression ? Are you sure you have hardware flow control enabled ? Good luck.. -- Regards Cliff
