I must support your comment, this is a completely crappy explanation! I invested in an Aopen case with a 300W power supply especially to avoid this kind of problems... I can't imagine that that's the real reason, because if it were, other Mobo manufacturers would do the same...
Asus has a history of being more carefull [paronoid] then other MB companies. So it fits thier style.Last year they had problems with one make of video card that the card maker shipped. The card exceed specs in terms of power use [I think that was the problem] and they wouldn't run in Asus boards. They seemed to run fine on other boards but ended up causing problems. Both Asus and Tyan have tended to aim thier products [IMHO] at people most interested in stable systems. Nick
