Run at 0 minutes every, 24 hours /2.. everytime etc etc, and your missing a field ;)
24/2 is 12... Wouldn't that only run it every 12 hours?
Shouldn't it be.. 0 0/12 * * *
If I am wrong show me where my calculation is incorrect...
Yup I'm missing a field but you're wrong-) * means first to last [check man 5 crontab] so what I wrote means: 0 0-23/2 * * * Which means on the hour every 2 hours run the command. The part after the / is the step not a math function. If you wanted every 5 minutes then */5 * * * * Would step every 5 minutes with the * in this case being translated to mean 0-59. What you wrote 0/12 would run twice a day. First at 0:00 and then 12 hours later at 12:00. Actually the every other hour bit is in the man section. Nick
