Since I a not at my home machine right now you can try: 'locate emu10k1' to find it if it's installed on your machine, or search for emu10k1 in Yast1 or Yast2 under packages. Some more info if you need it: http://lists2.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2001-Mar/1998.html http://portal.suse.de/en/content.php?3occccccccccccccccccccmccccccccccocccccccococcccccccccccccccc&content/hardware/soundneu.html Jostein

Some suggestions:
Have you installed the emu10k1 package? Check that and try to reconfigure your soundcard with Yast2.
Luckily for us Soundblaster Live owners Creative has now provided updated drivers for Linux on their websites. These drivers now have support for more multichannel and mixing functionality and other stuff. Go here to check it out!

===== Dear Jostein, I am glad you didnt have any problems. Unfortunately for me I cannot use YAST 2 . If I do once I have selected the sound blaster card and click on the finish button, for YAST 2 to perform the driver instalation, I get the error 'cannot load the driver'
Boo Hoo, no sound. Worst of all I have not been able to correspond here with anybody that may know a possible solution.
Kindest regards Neil Briggs
I use the Soundblaster live with 7.1, with no problems. Installed it with Yast2. I found out that I had to set it up when logged in as root in KDE 2.2 though, to get it working with the arts soundserver.

===== Dear Mr Joslin, Could you please update me with any response to the problem that you have posted about. I have the exact same problem with a soundblaster card, soundblaster live.
Yast 2 chose the wrong driver, for which the installation fails.
I read the alsa documentation and used the correct driver EMK10? (something like that) when clicking finish to install, this also failed.
I am at a total loss as to what to do now.
Many thanks Neil Briggs

Is there some program that I can use to sort out IRQ conflicts ?
