That file applies to RedHat The easiest way to set it up in SuSE is to do it in YaST1... Start a YaST session... System Administration -> Network Configuration -> Network base configuration Select a device number (say, 1...) Press F5 and select <Enter other device> and give the name eth0:0 Press F6 and enter the IP you want the new device to have Press F4 to set it to activate on boot Press F10 to save the setup
Hoping someone can help me. I am new to Linux and have just set up a linux firewall and apache web server. I was wondering if it is possible to have multipule IP addresses on the one ethernet card? I am running SuSE Linux 7.2 Pro (Kernel 2.4.4), I have read that I am supposed to edit (or create) an ifcfg-eth0:0 file but I can't find it under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts, or anywhere, is this the correct path? -- James Ogley, Unix Systems Administrator, Pinnacle Insurance Plc james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk www.pinnacle.co.uk +44 (0) 20 8731 3619 Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 7.x) This email was created and sent with Ximian Evolution 0.13
