but then on reboot I get a kernal panic. its to halt on trying to reset
the scsi adapter.
any pointers on what to do now. I can run the install from cd an then abort installation an then let it probe for any modules needed an then boot installed system from the kernel on the cd an it boots so i can still get into my system just not boot from the new kernel. LENZ> Are you using the aic_7xxx driver? The kernel now includes two drivers: LENZ> aic7xxx.o and aic7xxx_old.o. Try to exchange the driver in the initrd LENZ> by editing INITRD_MODULES in rc.config and running "mk_initrd && lilo".
Farther on my updating the kernel an kernel panic, it seems to be halting on the aic7xxx driver module, i have looked at the INITRD_MODULES line in rc.config an all that shows up is the just aic7xxx an reiserfs for modules. I'm not sure what aic7xxx driver is being loaded. can i just add the full driver name to that line as in : aic7xxx.o an then run mk_initrd an lilo. not sure which one i need to run to make sure that my aic7xxx card is working.
