Stuart is right. It sounds like none of your machines are playing the master browser. You can get on one of your Win98 boxes and run "nbtstat -A <ipaddress>" on all of your machines (samba wont respond I dont think) ..__MSBROWSE__.<01> GROUP Registered Whoever responds with this, is your master browser. If no one has it, try setting master browser = yes in the smb.conf file. That will make SAMBA the master browser, and prevent future issues (hopefully). The reason it may not be working as you expect is because you don't have a Master Browser on your network. The Master Browser is a machine that keeps a list of machines on the network, and is what Network Neighbourhood uses. If you do have a Master Browser, it may be that the Samba server is not announcing itself to this Master Browser. IIRC, Samba can act as a Master Browser, but I can't check on it for you right now. Check the settings and see if it is there. Almost any Windows machine attached to the network can act as a Master Browser, incl. Win98. Usually, this is something that would have to be switched off on a machine quite deliberately in order for it to not work. Hence, I suspect one of the Samba settings is incorrect. Bye for now, Stuart. -----Original Message----- From: suse-linux-e-return-72394-stuart=yorkshirepudding.com@suse.com [mailto:suse-linux-e-return-72394-stuart=yorkshirepudding.com@suse.com]O n Behalf Of Jeroen Verstegen Sent: 15 September 2001 10:43 To: Gregory M. But I can find the server (find - computer) I can see it with NET VIEW, I can connect to its shared folders etc. Only Network Neighborhood is not working. Maybe this is a Win98 problem/bug? well... Sorry, I'm late....
Perhaps you could check the ownership/permissions of the folders/files that you want shared.

I have the following problem.
My SuSE 7.1 server uses Samba for 3 Win98 boxes. It is working
fine. I have
some Login scripts that connect the right folders to the right network drives in Win98. I can find the server from Windows with: Find Computer
But the network neighborhood refuses to show the shares. It produces an error messages: "Can't find Network, No access to network" (or something similar, I'm using Dutch Window)
What am I missing?
thanks
