AFAIK (and I may be wrong) the audio data from CDs usually travels along a separate audio cable that runs to the sound card. My guess is that your normal CD drive is connected to the sound card by just such a cable, while the CD recorder is not. I think you can only connect one CD drive to each sound card like this.

As a matter of fact Chris, you can connect two CD devices to one sound card. Some cards may not be able to do this and if the sound is built into the motherboard, your probably can't. I have a Creative Labs PC512 card and both my cdrom and cdrecorder are connected to it via a sound cable and both play audio cds equally well. You must go into your mixer to set both lines on though, don't forget to do that. end of line Tracer -- ---KMail 1.3--- SuSE Linux v7.2--- Registered Linux User #225206 /tracerb@sprintmail.com/ *Magic Page Products* *Team Amiga* http://home.sprintmail.com/~tracerb
