Hi Tim,
The following is all I have in my smb.conf (Samba 2.0.9) regarding printers and it works fine:
[printers] comment = All Printers path = /tmp create mask = 0700 printable = Yes
Maybe try making a backup copy of your current smb.conf, then just replace your [printers] and [lp] section with something like what I've got. You should (and probably already have) watch the samba log file to see what happens when you try to print.
Hope this helps, Richard
Thanks Richard, That took care of it, although I wish I knew what exactly wasn't working. I guess I have time to figure that out later, i.e., add the statements one at a time and print test pages. Also, there were wrinkles; I had to print to the "raw" printer in /etc/printcap. That got me a good test page in Windows 95, but in Windows Me the graphics printed okay, while the text printed gibberish in the right text location. The only way to fix it was to uninstall the laserjet 4 printer in Windows and substitute the vanilla Laserjet driver.
