i'm installing 7.1 on a pent pro/64ram/4gig HD; installation of 'default with office' goes fine until yast2 gets to the X11 configuration, when i select a resolution and try to test it, nothing happens. i can't finish the X config because yast2 wont let me continue w/o testing. so i skipped X config, figuring i could do it after the install. when i log in (as root) and run sax, i get a messed up screen (four red-ish, heavily pixelated boxes along upper edge of screen). i can't ctrl-c out of it, and i can't go to one of the other tty's. after a reboot, if i run sax again, it works fine...until i get to where it asks for info on the video card. i've got a STB 4MB AGP video card, which isn't on sax's little list ... when i installed SVGA x server it still doesn't work. so i basically have three questions: 1) should i be going through xfconfig instead of sax? any suggestions for HOWTOs would be greatly appreciated. 2) i'm currently using xfree86 3.0 ... will switching to xfree86 4.0 be any help here? 3) how can i get the proper specs for the vid card? (searched google for the vid card info and got random hits...has anyone used this vid card before?) -yuk bon _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
