Hi, I'm trying to install SuSE 7.2 in a 486DX2 with 32 Mb. RAM, 2 hard disk (one of 540 Mb. and the other 210 Mb) and a 3Com 3C509. I copy all the SuSE 7.2 CDs to another machine that is running as FTP server cause is the only way to install the SuSE 7.2 in the 486DX2 as I don't have a CD-Rom for it. When I use the original bootdisk (not the i386 bootdisk), after load the root image in the ramdisk I begin to get a lot of this messages in the ALT-F4 terminal: (none) modprobe: modprobe Can't locate module block-major-80 (none) Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.4-4GB/modules.dep the number 80 change to 104 and then to 105. And after a lot of message a get a lot of kills to bash and some other things and a lot of Out of Memory. I'm trying to install using the text mode Yast. I also tried using the i386 bootdisk that is for old machines like the 486DX2 but I cannot load the network module to make a FTP installation, cause when it loads it, it says that the module was compiled for kernel 2.4.4-4GB and not for 2.4.4 that is the one that comes with the i386 bootdisk. If anyone knows how to get a around this problem, I'll be very happy. Thanks. --- Santiago Gonzalez Rodriguez listas_correo@uol.com.ar Ciudad de Buenos Aires - ARGENTINA
