I'm seeming to have a problem with my lpd dieing on me on my suse 7.2 box. seem to start when i tried to add an hp4plus to the machine. I have totally deleted my printcap file an started over to get printers setup. I'm using yast2 to setup the printers. I decided to setup the hp4plus printer 1st an it just does not print. i get this message: jobs queued, can not start daemon. Before I deleted an started over with the printers i had to go an kill -9 the lpd pids, there are 2 of them started each time. then when i type lpd an hit enter it would process all jobs in the queue except for the ones for the hp4plus. can anyone point me to the direction on where or what to look for to solve this problem.
I am almost sure you have the same problem Anders helped me with. Check to see if you are starting lpd in inet.conf AND in rc.config. If so, comment out the one in inet.conf, rcinetd restart, rclpd restart, and happy printing. -- Joe & Sesil Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris "All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen." --Ralph Waldo Emerson
