[I sent this message to the list a while back with no responses. I can't believe that no one has any information that might help, so I'm resending.] I've setup a 7.2 Linux system as a router between my internal LAN and my DSL modem. I'm running an FTP and SMTP server on my Linux box. When I try to ftp large files or send large messages (via SMTP) to my Linux system from any of my machines on the internal LAN, or try to send large files (via FTP or SMTP, for examples) to sites on the Internet, whose traffic must flow through my Linux (router) machine, I get peer connection resets. Small transmissions (small text messages, for example, without attachments) send fine. Any large messages or messages with attachments get the resets. My Windows machines all complain of TCP timeout errors when trying to connect directly to the Linux box or the Internet (through the Linux box). I see no error or warning messages in /var/log/messages. I'm running the ipchains-based firewall on this unmodified (2.4.2) kernel that came with 7.2. I have masquerading turned on. One other failure case (I'm sure these are all the same problem), is that I'm running a Samba server on the Linux machine, and any attempt to copy files from my Windows machines (on the internal LAN) to the Linux "home" shares, results in timeout messages on the Windows side. This happens, of course, with large files. Small files copy fine. What should I look for? What is the likely cause of this? Thanks. -- Eric
