What kind of printer is this exactly. I quick review of Lexmarks US site does not show a model of that number in either the inkjets or the laser categories? Marianne: This is a laser printer. But it is not postscript enabled. It is a GDI type

To Lexmark's credit they have released a modified version of Ghostscript 5.50 and a cups driver under GNU GPL. They also have a readme file on the disc that details installs for SuSE, Mandrake, and Red Hat. However I found the install for LPROLD to be problematic and did not work well. So I converted my printing sub system to Cups and have good printing results. The lack of mention on Lexmarks site is probbly indicative of the fact that Lexmark has discontinued the printer without support due to its GDI format. They are probbly concentrating on PCL, postscript prints which have support built in to the Linux printing sub systems. I have no idea at this time if the mods are included into more recent Ghostscript versions, or if there is any devleoper support at this time.
