Hi list: Where can I get Quake for Linux? Can I download it?
Quake: There are linux binaries at: ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/unsup/unix/ and these are used in conjunctino with the standard Windows Quake files. Quake II: There are linux binaries at: ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quake2/unix/ and these are used in conjuction with the standard Windows Quake II files. Quake III Arena: The latest Loki point release can read the Windows pak file (in the past the Loki version had a modified pak file, IIRC), so if you own the Win version of Q3A you're fine. Download the latest point release from: ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quake3/linux/linuxq3apoint-1.29h-beta.x86.run throw in your pak file and off you go. However, if you do this, Loki games (who make the Linux version) do not get paid for the work they did. So you should really go and buy a copy from Loki.
