Hi guys'n'dolls, Tracer is looking for the URL-path for dling the latest kernel-rpm, which I managed to forget. One of you maybe got it at hand right now? I was searching for it on SuSE websites but presumably I've been to stoopid to find it myself. Cheers and TiA .... Wolfi Thanks wolfi, I will check the site out for more info, but it certainly sounds easier than I thought it would be. I guess if you aren't using the optimized version with the Athlon, I wouldn't either. I am sure the 7.2 installation did the 386 version, so I should be safe there. Which file/s do I need to download from their site to do the kernal update, I was a little confused about that? Oh, did you notice any improvements by moving to the new kernal? I was almost thinking about waiting for the 2.5 to come out before doing anything, since they are up to 2.4.10 now? Thanks again Tracer -------------------- On Monday 03 September 2001 02:25 pm, wolfi, you wrote:
Hi Tracer,
Are your instructions the same for all kernal updates?
'my' instruction is from SuSE sdb :-)). There is an article saying this in the way I posted, and it has got the URL:
http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/ftpkernel.html I have an Athlon 500 (yes, early Athlons had only 500 MHz!) and I am not sure, if all Athlons would run the pentium optimized kernel, mine didn't when I tried, so I am using the 386 kernels ever since. If you are in doubt, use the 386-version. Which one do you have now on your standard 7.2 installation?? It's only that simple, I'm afraid, if you use the kernel rpm from SuSE. I wouldn't bet on it if the kernel originates elsewhere :-)).
