I've just upgraded to 7.2 and now want to download and update to the 2.4.7 kernel. I've not got a multi cpu box so assume I don't need the k_smp or k_psmp kits.
That leaves the k_deflt or k_i386 rpm kits. They are a different size, so what's the difference between them, and which one do I use? I'm installing onto a 550Mhz Athlon.
You want the k_deflt kernel. The difference between k_deflt and k_i386 is that k_deflt is compiled with various optimisations for more modern processors, while k_i386 has none of these optimisations and so it can be run on older 386 processors.
