Sure, it's no problem. When you install the jdk1.2 it will land in /usr/lib/ and /usr/lib/java will be symlinked to it. StarOffice won't care about that, it has its own path to /usr/lib/jdk1.1.8, so it will keep running. Just make sure your $PATH is set to /usr/lib/java/bin, then you can switch between 1.2 and 1.1.8 just by remaking the symlink. Anders On Friday 31 August 2001 23.02, Chris Herrnberger wrote:
Greetings:
New to java, old on suse...:)
Was wondering if someone could lend a hand here. SuSE 7.2 comes with compatible java version to run StarOffice, however there is a need to get briefed on the latest java developements. Ive installed Java2 from Sun and it all went rather seemless. The remaining issue is the path settings.
Is is possible to run two differing versions of java and if so how do i set the paths. (want to keep staroffic working)
Best and thanks
