Hi
I have a SuSE Linux 6.1 box acting as a mail server and internet gateway. I would like to set up a dns server on it so that other machines on my network ask it for DNS-Lookups instead of asking my ISP. I don't just want it to have local addresses - it should give the IP for any address on the internet.
Can someone give details on how to do this or point me in the right direction?
Many Thanks,
Andrew
I assume the following: Your ISPs nameservers have the IP addresses 1.2.3.4 and 1.2.3.5 Your local LAN is 192.168.0.0/24 Then use the following clause in /etc/named.conf options { directory "/var/named"; allow-query { 192.168.0.0/24; }; forwarders { 1.2.3.4; 1.2.3.5; }; forward only; }; -tosi
