To everyone, if you have a Soundbaster 16 (ISA) and midi in it works, what are your settings? What is in your modules.conf? My cards' midi is working fine in windows, in caldera linux, in mandrake, in redhat, in OS/2(yes I still have OS/2), in NT, in ME, in DOS, and in QNX. I I know this has to be strickly a midi problem, because anything with midi like MusE, RTSynth, SpiralSynth, TK-707, anthem, vkeybd etc do not play any sound. Although the application screens do come up. I am not a fool, I know that some of these require that you do some other settings to access the midi IN/ OUT ports.
Hi there, funny that you saying it`s midi problem, well figure this out I`m running SuSE 6.4 snd card Vibra 16. Kmidi of Kde2 crashes as you`ve mentioned but Kmidi of Kde1 plays happy as Larry(no offence Larry) in fact any other midi program is working except that one the Kmidi2. In case you wondering I did standard Alsaconf run no extra tweaking whatsoever. Here is some info as presented by /etc/modules.conf # --- BEGIN: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. --- # --- ALSACONF verion 0.5.9 --- alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-card-sb16 alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1 snd_device_mode=0660 snd_device_gid=17 snd_device_uid=0 post-install snd alsactl restore # --- END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
