Thanks Jonathan, reinstalling koffice 1.1 beta 3 fixed the problem. It
seems that the two versions (the stand alone rpm and the koffice rpm) are
mutually exclusive. SuSE packagers, can you do something about it (maybe
document it in a README file)?

Try uninstalling koffice and kivio:
rpm -e koffice and rpm -e kivio
then reinstall the koffice 1.1 beta 1 or two rpm. this should work. if not do rpm --rebuilddb.
