This is a problem that has come up on several lists lately. I am
running Slackware 4.0 and SuSE 7.1 and it works as expected. There is
a problem with the SuSEfirewall between subnets, but that isn't your
case. Please show the results of "route -n" on all three machines.

Hi,
I have installed SuSE Linux 7.0 and 7.1 in our office.
We are testing a simple case of routing -- we slot in 2 NICs in one server and give them 2 different network segment IP address. We would like to have a subnet the server act as a simple router to 2 network segments.
+---------+ +---------+ +---------+ +10.1.1.5 | <-> +10.1.1.1 | <> +10.2.1.5 | +---------+ +10.2.1.1 | +---------+ +---------+
Both subnet masks are 255.255.0.0. Now, the problem is :- when we ping from 10.1.1.5 workstation to 10.2.1.5, we always get 10.2.1.1 response: destination unreachable The same case happens while trying to ping from 10.2.1.5 to 10.1.1.5
We set 10.1.1.5's default gateway to 10.1.1.1; 10.2.1.5's default gateway to 10.2.1.1.
Any one can enlight me on this? FYI, the IP forwarding feature has been turned on and we do not turn on any SuSE firewall option.
Thanks!
