My god, I'm still using KDE 2.0.1. What packages did you dl to upgrade to 2.1.2, isn't it support, then libs, etc. and after words (or before hand) did you have to put back ups back into place?
I used the packages I picked up from the KDE section on the SuSE support site. Don't remember which ones, though, except that I got qt-experimental rather than qt. An advantage of getting stuff from SuSE rather than from kde.org is that it comes in the form of rpm's that are easier to keep track of. I think I heard that Lenz Grimmer has a howto on creating SuSE-compatible rpm's from .tgz files, available via the "people" page on the SuSE website, but I've never gotten around to checking it out.
Was there any noticible improvement afterwards and what pitfalls might I wish to avoid.
I vaguely remember that it solved a couple of problems, but I can no longer tell you what they were. The upgrade did go quite smoothly. Paul
