another option is to buy the update boxed set from suse for $50 us. jack At 02:38 PM 6/12/2001 +0100, Digby Tarvin wrote:
Hi,
I have just finished a preliminary install of a "SuSE LINUX 7.0 professional" box set which I originally bought back in November, but due to a busy period at work didn't get to play with till now.
I see that in the six months since I bought it, the current release has moved on to 7.2. However I don't really want to go out and buy the full professional set every three months just to remain current, even if it is only UK50.00/US75.00 a copy, so I was wondering what other people do?
Perhaps someone who is familiar with 7.0 and 7.2 could provide some insights into the differences.
I don't recall seeing any mention of 'updates', so I suspect going out and buying another box set would involve writing off what I paid for the 7.0 and paying full price again?
One thought was that perhaps the 'professional' extras don't change as quickly, and just a 'personal 7.2' would suffice to update the core system.
If the manuals didn't change much, then an option to get just a new set of CDs as an 'upgrade' would be preferable.
Or maybe the images can be downloaded from the SuSE web site somewhere?
Or should I just apply the 7.0 updates on the SuSE web site and stick with 7.0 till I am four or five versions behind?
Any opinions or experiences would be appreciated.
