I've found a problem with suse though. When going from Suse 7.0 (2.2.16 + ReiserPatch) to 2.4.4, the reiserfs seems to be implemented differently. This means I cannot mount my 'old' reiserFS systems. BAD!. I have since bought another HD, booted into 2.2.16, put everything on ext2 and recreated the reiserfs system with the new version. It all works now!
JO> I suspect that's cos of the new version of Reiser, although I'm not 100% JO> certain... I've got the same sort of setup - SuSE 7.0 with 2.2.16, and my root fs is Reiser. I compiled the 2.4.4 kernel last night, and now it has no problem reading my Reiser partitions. The only trouble I had was when I hadn't enabled Reiser support in the kernel. So, the 2.4.4 version of Reiser does seem to be compatible with the 2.2.16 version. Now if only I could get the network card and the sound card working... :-) Olly
