I was told once by a SuSE emp that it stood for "Software und(and?) Systems Engineering".
The "untranslated" version is (I believe) Software und System Entwicklung and truly enough it could be translated as Software and Systems Engineering, but if I were to translate it without regard for the original acronym, I would have said Development instead of Engineering. Regards Ole
