Hi all,
I am struggling to get my CD-RW and DVD to work, but can't quite figure it out. Maybe someone can help me:
my two cd-drives:
HDC is my CD-RW (Ricoh MP7040a) HDD is my DVD (Matshita)
Now, when my machine boots up I see the following:
...... hdc: RICOH CD-R/RW MP7040A, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive hdd: MATSHITADVD-ROM SR-8583, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive ...... request_module[scsi_hostadapter]: Root fs not mounted request_module[scsi_hostadapter]: Root fs not mounted request_module[scsi_hostadapter]: Root fs not mounted ....... scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices Vendor: RICOH Model: CD-R/RW MP7040A Rev: 1.20 Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Detected scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 20x/20x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray ......
I am using Suse 7.1, Kernel 2.4. So I enabled SCSI support, and added these lines in my modules.conf:
alias scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi alias sr0 srmod options ide-cd ignore=hdc options ide-cd ignore=hdd
Try changing this to: options ide-cd ignore=hdc, hdd Also, did you remember to change lilo.conf and rerun lilo? Another thing to do would be to add ide-scsi to INITRD_MODULES in /etc/rc.config and run mk_initrd, so that the ide-scsi is availible when the kernel loads. Regards Ole
