Are you sure about the 'no keyboard' bit? I have this problem too. ctrl+Fn gives me a black screen, but in my case this is just a graphical problem. mgetty is there, and if I do a 'halt' or 'reboot' it works. I can't see a thing, but after a bit the system shuts down normally. Anders On Friday 27 April 2001 04:06, Christopher W. Aiken wrote:

'fraid not. I don't use xdm/kdm/gdm. I always use "startx", but if I have to shutdown X, I get the "black screen of death". No keyboard or mouse. No Ctrl-Alt-Del. 'nuttin. Only thing I can do is re-boot. I only use Xfce-3 as my desctop.
