The 'htdocs' should be 755. For security reasons the www requests aren't run as root but as "wwwrun" in the "nogroup" group, so that directory needs world read and execute permission. >Also, I installed Apache (SuSE 7.1) with mod_php4, but when using a browser > it insists on trying to download the *.php file, is there something I have >to switch on in Apache? Check to make sure something like this is in your httpd.conf (I'm running v1.3.14-6): <IfModule mod_php4.c> AddType application/x-httpd-php .php AddType application/x-httpd-php .php4 AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps </IfModule> You may also want to add this: <IfModule mod_dir.c> DirectoryIndex index.html index.php </IfModule> HTH, Daniel (ps -- don't forget to run "/etc/init.d/apache reload" once the changes are made)
