Standart imapd (from imap-2000-10 package) doesn't work with long MD5 passwords in /etc/shadow on my SuSe 7.1 linux box. But it works well with old (short) DES passwords. PAM settings for MD5 passwords were modified by harden-suse-3.2. I verified that imap-2000 was compiled with PAM support ("make lnp"). The imap PAM-file (/etc/pam.d/imap) is: ----------------------------------------------------------- #%PAM-1.0 auth required /lib/security/pam_unix.so account required /lib/security/pam_unix.so ---------------------------------------------------------- May be I must write something with "md5"? All other stuff (like su, login, qpopper) works good with MD5 passwords. The content of /etc/pam.d/pop and /etc/pam.d/pop3 is the same as for imap... Thank you, Vadim
