I take it your hwclock man page is newer/different from mine in SuSE6.3, which is dated: 02 March 1998? It would be nice if they had been updated since then.
I actually think we have the same page. At least, mine is also dated 02 March 1998. I think the difference is how we read it. The top of the man-page says:
-------------------- HWCLOCK(8) HWCLOCK(8)
NAME hwclock - query and set the hardware clock (RTC)
SYNOPSIS hwclock -r or hwclock --show hwclock -w or hwclock --systohc hwclock -s or hwclock --hctosys hwclock -a or hwclock --adjust hwclock -v or hwclock --version --------------------
These lines might just mean that those options cannot be used together, but they might also mean that the 2 options shown on each line is equivalent.
I'm sure they mean they're equivalent. I'm amused and amazed that our respective man pages are dated the same, yet are so different in content! In my /usr/man/man8 clock is a symlink to hwclock, yet the page header says "CLOCK(8)" as though hwclock were a symlink to clock. And of course, my synopsis has none of those lines you show above. Under NAME it says "clock" but starting with SYNOPSIS it talks about "hwclock." Very strange. :) Must be time for an upgrade, but, gee, I don't seem to have old 6.3 fully installed yet. Thanks again, Jim
