Somehow, PPP is getting mixed up in this. When I try to print, the console says: spongebob-linux pppoe[10266]: read (asyncReadFromPPP): Input/output error
How do you set up a USB printer? Yast2 won't let me setup my z52 as a USB printer. It gives a warning about GDI printers and says I should check lexmark for drivers. At that point, I'd already installed the z52 drivers.
Has anyone figured this out yet? I'm on suse 7.1.
Are there any usefull manuals for this type of unix? the ones on the cd dont' seem to help much, and suse support doesn't seem to do anything but send out automated 'we're got your request' messages.
thanks all

Jennifer,
I use a Lexmark Z52 with S.u.S.E 7.1. I'm not using a Usb hookup, I'm running it through LPT1 (Serial Port). I downloaded the Lexmark driver, ran it and it told me that to print I would need to tell Linux to print using the command lpr -Plexmarkz52 . I don't have any problems with it. Nor did I need to use Yast at all.
jennifer- i've been using the lexmarkz52 for several months. it has worked really well. it is really easy to control resolution - print quality and works well for printing graphics, does photo quality well. mine is running on the parallel port. i'm using the driver downloaded from lexmark's site and running it with 7.1. i think that using usb would add complications. good luck- larry
