Derek; You can find the Kernels maintained by Hubert Mantel at ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mantel/next/* However, there is "SuSE" updates available in the suse_update in the series kernel/rpms/ I believe the last one was 2.4.2-5 You can grab these through Yast. I've just started installing SuSE-7.1 alongside my happily running 6.4. I'm having big trouble with my SCSI disks and the 2.4.0 kernel. When I reboot, the shutdown procedure gets as far as 'unmounting filesystems' and it hangs. It doesn't crash - it just stops and nothing else happens until I hit the reset button. The disk then needs fsck'ing when I reboot.
I have the same problem if I try to mount a disk manually - the mount process just locks up in the kernel.
I know that 2.4.0 had problems with the SCSI driver, so maybe that's the cause. Where can I download an RPM of a newer kernel - preferably 2.4.3? I've checked the archives for this list but can't find anything relevant. I'll recompile my own kernel if I have to, but I'd rather go with the official SuSE ones for now.
