As a long shot, when you try and mount the source machine, you have to pass it a mount point what are you using? I recall a long time ago I went round and round only to find I havd to use /var/admin/mount thats where the source machine is expecting the connection (I think) may be worth a shot rob
But geez this is all just wasting my time. I tried doing it via NFS but there I got permissions error and I would have to resolve that first too.
/etc/exports: /usr/local/ftp/pub/suse/i386/7.1/suse 192.168.1.3(ro) /usr/local/ftp/pub/suse/i386/7.1 192.168.1.3(ro)
starting nfsserver(suse 6.2) succeeds. but it won't allow anything access.

This was asked once before quite a while ago, by myself. The response I received was that it REQUIRES more then 64mg of ram for it to do an ftp install. If you don't have more then 64 mg of ram, you won't beable to do the ftp install at all, even if you tried to overwrite it somehow, the ftp install would fail do to memory requirements.
