For a specific installation, I need the smallest possible subset on the disk. It's OK if every configuration has to be made on another system, but the installation has to be as small as 10-20 MB. Possible?
I've heard that there are special distributions out there, but I'd like to keep it to SuSE, so I'm sure of the future development.
Ouch! I've done 80 MB before, but 10-20 MB? I'm not sure about that. What would it need to do? You would have to miss out on a number useful tools and it would be a tight squeeze. You'll probably have to disble logging, etc. as well, otherwise it'll eat up your disk space. Of course, you could mount a remote filesystem, for example keep /usr on your main machine and just have a very basic /bin directory. Let me know what you want, and I'll see if I can cut SuSE down to those proportion. I'm not optimistic though. I think your best option is to get hold of one of the mini-linux distributions, or make your own distribution (i.e. get the sources only for what you need and compile them yourself).
