Yast1 has a capability for going to the SuSE FTP site and selecting modules for update from the ones available there. I can't find anything corresponding to that capability in Yast2. Am I missing something?
YaST2 does it too, at least the version I got with 7.1 Maybe you should update YaST2.
I've got the Yast2 for 7.1. Under "software" there's an icon for "Change Source of Installation", but that seems to apply to installation, not update. I tried pointing the ftp address at the update site but it didn't work because the setup file wasn't there. There seems to be a tricky distinction between directories intended for update and those intended for initial installation.
Another related question: is there a way to change the default FTP site known to Yast1 to be one of the SuSE mirrors instead of SuSE itself? Is that information hiding, perhaps, in some configuration file for Yast?
Again, my YaST2 lets you have a pick.
I'm looking for the Yast1 facility. There's less correspondence than one would expect (or want) between Yast1 and Yast2. it would be nice if Yast2 was just a graphical version of Yast1, but it isn't. Paul Abrahams
