On 6.4 I had to use imwheel for netscape. I had it configured for a smooth scroll as opposed to a jump scroll. In 7.1/kde2 it seems now that imwheel is no longer needed even for netscape. Great, but how do I configure the scroll method to be a smooth scroll instead of the annoying jump scroll. I don't see any options for it in the control center. It seems as though imwheel no longer does anything when it's running. It's like kde2 is overriding it. I want my smooth scroll back. ????
KDE-2.x, or more precisely, QT-2.x, understands the mouse scroll wheel natively. You'll have to stop imwheel because it steals events which QT depends on. So you either have all your QT apps with mouse wheel support, or all the non QT apps with mouse wheel support. You choose! Regarding the smooth scroll, I don't think Konqueror does it. It was discussed on the developers list some time ago, but it's surprisingly hard to implement, and what often happens is that the X server simply optimises away all the "smoothness" graphic updates. It was not considered worth it.
