From my experience, KDE2 has some sort of implementation for dealing with wheel mouse events, but I have not figured out how to configure it properly. I still prefer to use imwheel (it overrides kde2), which is highly configurable.
On my box it's the other way around. Kde2 is overriding imwheel. My changes to imwheelrc to get the smooth scroll (taken from the authors site) which worked for kde1/kde2/6.4 no longer work for 7.1. Maybe it's because 7.1 has imwheel-0.9.5-179 and I had installed imwheel-0.9.7.tar.gz way back when 6.4 came out. Why is imwheel so old on 7.1? I guess I'll just have to try it. Does smooth scroll work on your box with the imwheelrc below???
Try my .imwheelrc, it should work with most versions of imwheel. Also make sure to read the sdb articles on how to get it working.
for x4.0 your /etc/X11/XF86Config should look like: Section "InputDevice" Driver "mouse" Identifier "Mouse[1]" Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" Option "Name" "AutoDetected" Option "Protocol" "imps/2" Option "Vendor" "AutoDetected" EndSection

Great, but how do I configure the scroll method to be a smooth scroll instead of the annoying jump scroll. I don't see any options for it in the control center. It seems as though imwheel no longer does anything when it's running. It's like kde2 is overriding it. I want my smooth scroll back. ????
