This may be a Bad Bug:
I have a SCSI removable cartridge drive (Fujitsu Read/Write Magneto
Optical) that worked
well in SuSE 6.3; I set it up as described in the Support Database
article on Zip disks.
But I can not get it to work on SuSE 7.1.
FDISK -l /dev/sdb gives this confused output:
Disk /dev/sdb: 64 heads, 32 sectors, 121 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 2048 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 ? 293349 586697 300388839+ cf Unknown
Partition 1 has different physical/logical beginnings (non-Linux?):
phys=(803, 35, 15) logical=(293348, 30, 16)
Partition 1 has different physical/logical endings:
phys=(803, 35, 15) logical=(586696, 60, 30)
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary:
phys=(803, 35, 15) should be (803, 63, 32)
/dev/sdb2 ? 293349 586697 300388839+ cf Unknown
Partition 2 has different physical/logical beginnings (non-Linux?):
phys=(803, 35, 15) logical=(293348, 30, 16)
Partition 2 has different physical/logical endings:
phys=(803, 35, 15) logical=(586696, 60, 30)
Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary:
phys=(803, 35, 15) should be (803, 63, 32)
/dev/sdb3 ? 293349 586697 300388839+ cf Unknown
Partition 3 has different physical/logical beginnings (non-Linux?):
phys=(803, 35, 15) logical=(293348, 30, 16)
Partition 3 has different physical/logical endings:
phys=(803, 35, 15) logical=(586696, 60, 30)
Partition 3 does not end on cylinder boundary:
phys=(803, 35, 15) should be (803, 63, 32)
/dev/sdb4 ? 293349 586697 300388839+ cf Unknown
Partition 4 has different physical/logical beginnings (non-Linux?):
phys=(803, 35, 15) logical=(293348, 30, 16)
Partition 4 has different physical/logical endings:
phys=(803, 35, 15) logical=(586696, 60, 30)
Partition 4 does not end on cylinder boundary:
phys=(803, 35, 15) should be (803, 63, 32)
This is a DOS formatted cart (128MB) that works fine in W98.
When I start YAST and use it to manage the device YAST shows:
Device Name from to blocks Partition type
/dev/sdb1 293349 586697 300388839 cf Unknown
/dev/sdb2 293349 586697 300388839 cf Unknown
/dev/sdb3 293349 586697 300388839 cf Unknown
/dev/sdb4 293349 586697 300388839 cf Unknown
I know these worked on SuSE 6.3, it was my main way of moving data
between
unconnected systems. This error has shown up on two different systems
that I
installed 7.1 on. I am seeing a similar error on an LS-120 drive on one
system.
Please help!!
