Never one to stand still I have been doing some more rooting around I don't think that the cardmgr is correctly identifying my card. Here is the output from /var/log/messages when I re-insert the card. Mar 8 14:36:58 laptop cardmgr[145]: initializing socket 0 Mar 8 14:36:58 laptop cardmgr[145]: unsupported card in socket 0 Mar 8 14:36:59 laptop cardmgr[145]: product info: "HCFLCNXT", "1143" Mar 8 14:36:59 laptop cardmgr[145]: manfid: 0x0013, 0x0000 function: 254 ((null)) I tracked down the identification problem to the line in /etc/pcmcia/config which read: card "HCFLCNXT", "1143". I changed this to card "HCFLCNXT 1143" and the card is now recognised. On inserting the card I now get the following information from /var/lib/pcmcia/stab: Socket 0: HCFLCNXT 1143 0 serial serial_cs 0 ttyS18 4 82 And the following from /var/log/messages: Mar 8 15:07:48 laptop cardmgr[1238]: initializing socket 0 Mar 8 15:07:48 laptop kernel: cs: memory probe 0x0d0000-0x0dffff: clean. I have tried using Yast2 again but it doesn't detect the modem. Any ideas where I should be looking now? TIA, Jethro
